Ven Pongal / Khara Pongal


Ingredients                                         
Moong dhal
½  cup
Rice
1 ½ cup
Cashews
A few
Mustard seeds
1 tsp
turmeric
1 tspn
Cumin seeds
1  tspn
Black pepper
1  tspn
Asafetiedo
¼ tspn
Curry leaves
1 sprig
Fresh ginger
1 inch piece
 ghee
2 tbsp
Salt
As per taste


















Method
  1. Wash rice and moong dhal and pressure cook them. It has to be very gooey/mushy so for 1 cup of rice add 3 cups of water.
  2. Chop ginger into tiny pieces and keep it aside.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan and add mustard seeds, turmeric, pepper, cumin seeds cashews, curry leaves and ingu fry until it is light brown.
  4. Pour this mixture on the rice add salt and mix everything well.
  5. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
